Hike to Reclaim Your Sense of Wonder
Lynette Orlando and Lora Christoffel Present a Yoga Trail’s Hike for Reclaiming Your Sense of Wonder
That childlike wonder. Oh what a feeling! Working on an indoor project the other day, I noticed the time it was nearing the end of the day. A beautiful sunny afternoon and I had missed it! I immediately stopped what I was doing, hopped on my bicycle and took a ride through the park. I leaned back on the seat and felt the wind brush against my skin, my feet and legs completely engage in the motion of pedaling, I was smiling. In that moment I felt the aliveness in my body and the awareness of my senses! I had re-connected with my natural surroundings.
As adults we try to plan vacations. It’s not always convenient to board a plane and fly to Costa Rica for an amazing yoga retreat or even mark off a whole day on our calendar for a trip to Sedona. But, we can afford 90 minutes. Cant’ we? In Phoenix the weather gives us many opportunities to enjoy our natural surroundings. Outside play energizes the body, frees the mind and revitalizes the spirit! Yoga outside is the perfect way to awaken our senses and reclaim our childlike wonder. I encourage you to join us on the trail for some outdoor fun and adventure! Don’t miss it!
When: Jan 29, 2012
Where: Mt. Park Ranch on 3939 N. Ranch Circle off Chandler Blvd.and 40th in
Our first hike will be Sunday, 1/29 at 9:30 am. The address is 3939 N. Ranch Circle, Ahwatukee, AZ. We will spend the first several minutes getting acquainted, filling out a brief survey, and the hike will start promptly at 10:00 am. We suggest bringing a yoga mat, a small towel, water bottle, wear trail shoes, sunglasses or hat, and sunscreen.
We will start on the grassy part of the park, set our intention, do a short meditation, then some warmups before beginning the actual hike. We will hike to the first summit, where we will stop and do a heart opening sequence. Then we will hike along the flat trail, stop once on the flat part and to a lunge sequence. We will then hike to the second summit whre we will do a balancing series and some revitalizing standing asanas (poses) . After this we will head back, hiking the same path we came up, when we reach the grassy area again, we will do a short cool down before going into svasana.
